About First Baptist Church
First Baptist Church is a historic African American Baptist congregation in Guthrie, Oklahoma, established in 1889. Its red brick building with stained glass windows (cornerstone engraved with Rev. S.S. Jones and the year 1899) is a longstanding landmark in the community. Rev. Hersey L. Hammons, Jr. has served as pastor for roughly three decades.
